UCL PEARL wins London Regional Award from the Royal Institution of British Architects
We are delighted to announce that our recently completed UCL PEARL has won yet another award: this time, it is the London Regional Award from the Royal Institution of British Architects (RIBA). This is a prestigious award that addresses the building "in use" and the extent to which it is serving its purpose in practice.
As well as being architecturally outstanding, UCL PEARL, the Person Environment Activity Research Laboratory, is University College London‘s first net-zero carbon in-use building. This new and unique research facility for the creation of full-sized environments, tests how people use infrastructure and cities, with the goal of improving urban design, for a more accessible and sustainable future.
RIBA is a professional body for architects, primarily in the United Kingdom. Annually RIBA host the Regional Awards, the RIBA regional awards celebrate outstanding architectural projects across the Uk, in a variety of different categories which honours specific characteristics and criteria of a project. This year ninety-two projects have been nominated for the 2023 RIBA awards, and all projects were assessed by a regional jury.
