steel award

Since their inception in 1969, the British Constructional Steelwork Association's Structural Steel Design Awards have highlighted exemplary steelwork projects in the UK and Ireland, setting a global benchmark for excellence.

The UK and Ireland continue to lead in the use of steel as a construction material. Steel solutions offer low-carbon, high-quality structures designed with reuse in mind.

The £11.5 million Bishops Square project included the construction of a new retail unit near Spitalfields Market, London. This include the construction of a 2-storey mixed-use development, to provide ten retail units.

Designed by Foster & Partners, and inspired by the East End’s historic industrial warehouses, the distinctive building includes an exposed structural frame, coated in dark red iron oxide, infilled by glazing, canopies and partitions to give it a modern, industrial feel.
