Battle of Britain Bunker Visitor Centre

VolkerFitzpatrick designed and built a unique visitor centre commemorating the historic Battle of Britain Bunker for the London Borough of Hillingdon.

  • Two-stage design and build project
  • New build visitor centre
  • Located next to historic WWII bunker
  • 519m2 exhibition space, model-making and workshop rooms, library, 95 seat auditorium, meeting and conference facilities, café, reception area, car parking and landscaped areas
  • Steel frame with metal deck upper floors
  • Reinforced concrete ground slab with piled foundations

The construction team, consultants and Hillingdon Council Building Control met regularly throughout the build to ensure all aspects of required compliance were met and the visitor centre progressed smoothly to very tight timescales. Our teamwork helped to deliver a striking building for visitors to admire and enjoy.
