VolkerFitzpatrick delivers new library facility for University of East London's Stratford campus
- Design and build of new three-storey, 45,200ft2 university library building, with social and learning spaces, café and breakout areas
- Demolition of existing student buildings, along with decant works
- Large atrium with domed glass skylight links different areas of the building
- Feature helical staircase, with fair faced concrete finishes on interior and hardwood timber cladding on outer surfaces
- Reinforced concrete frame superstructure with brick and glazed façades, bespoke aluminium windows and laminated timber curtain walling
- Sustainable building features include rooftop photovoltaic panels, green roof and rainwater harvesting
- Awarded a Concrete Society Certificate of Excellence 2013
- Won the CIBSE New Build Project of the Year (up to £10m) Award 2015
