Gatwick North West Zone
The Gatwick North West Zone subcontract project was for the construction of six A380 sized airplane stands, with associated taxi lane, attenuation and contamination containment ponds and raising the height of an existing landscaped earth bund. The works were constructed in an area that was part green field and part brown field.
VolkerFitzpatrick provided all labour, plant and curing agents necessary to transport, lay, compact and finish 95,000m2 of Wet Lean Concrete to a depth of 150mm; and Pavement Quality Concrete to depths of 300mm, 400mm, 435mm and 455mm.
Despite a tight delivery schedule and severe winter weather during the construction programme the project was successfully delivered to achieve the stand delivery date of 1st July 2010. The success of this project is testament to the commitment of the project team and their proactive approach to liaising with the Client and other stakeholders.
